Markets & Shopping / Marchnadoedd a Siopa
Aberaeron, a gorgeous little seaside town with brightly painted Georgian houses & a pretty harbour (as at 2024 there is a huge coastal defence scheme taking place) there are a few independent shops, restaurants & cafes to mooch around. The town is right on the coastal path & you can take a scenic walk, or cycle, up to Llanerchaeron National Trust. We like Watson & Pratt's, "a neighbourhood grocers" who have a well-stocked range of organic foods including some great bakes & wines, Deli Lazzaro, Box of Delights if you fancy treating yourself to a new outfit & Seld giftshop where you can find gifts from many Welsh makers. Just down the road is Aberaeron Craft Centre with a small number of local businesses
Aberaeron Harbour View Farmers Market, returns each Spring & takes place each Saturday. Local producers in a lovely harbour setting (though as mentioned above there is a coastal defence scheme taking place)
Cardigan Guildhall Market, a beautiful grade II listed gothic building built in 1860 that has been recently renovated. Located in the centre of town the market features lots of lovely local stall holders including various craft stalls, Te Orinda cakes, Mister Meze who also makes fantastic mocktails, Wnco Mwnco organic & biodynamic wines, Cardigan Bay Quilts who also sell crafts & Leafy Lion Books to name just a few. Cardigan is a nice little town (raise your eyes & look up at the beautiful detailing on some of the buildings) to potter around with some nice shops & places to have a coffee & a bite to eat. The castle overlooking the river is very picturesque
Farmgate Farm shop, Llangrannog, SA44 6AH, this is a fourth generation, sustainable, family business from the boots up as they rear their own outdoor animals & produce their own eggs, fruit, veg, preserves, blankets & sheepskins. Many of the other goods sold are locally produced. Opening times vary depending upon the season but tend to be Wednesday/Thursday to Sunday
Glebelands Market Garden, Cardigan, farm shop selling seasonal, organic crops. Mostly locally grown fresh foods with a range of local preserves & tinned organic foods. Check the opening times before you go
Lampeter Market/Marchnad Llambed, located on the Lampeter University campus of UWTSD on the 2nd & 4th Saturday mornings of each month. We've never been but the Facebook site states the market sells "high quality locally produced food & crafts from West Wales"
Newcastle Emlyn open-air market, a basic market held in the carpark off the high street on Friday mornings that sells fruit, vegetable, plants & homemade produce. There are a few nice shops in Newcastle Emlyn such as Fair & Fabulous a friendly store that sells Fair Trade & environmentally friendly products, Tivy Hall Gift Shop, Emlyn Antiques Centre, Scallywag clothes, Trefhedyn garden centre that sells a lot of locally grown plants & Riverside Health Foods
St Dogmaels Producers Market, from 9am-1pm, Tues – great little market (the size changes depending upon the producers selling that day) in a stunning setting. Next to St Dogmaels Abbey & The Coach House Visitor Centre which has a nice café. Poppit Sands beach is just down the road & the White Hart pub is a characterful pub where drinks are slightly cheaper as it's a community pub
